About Me

The fun starts with a full screening of the 2004 film followed by a discussion with cast members Jon Heder (Napoleon), Efren Ramirez (Pedro) and Jon Gries (Uncle Rico).

Where else but a Napoleon Dynamite occasion do it's important to bring your own tater tots?

The occasion is "Napoleon Dynamite Live!" at the Texas Theatre on April 1, 2023.

The fun starts with a full screening of Napoleon Dynamite (2004) followed by a moderated discussion from fan-favorite cast members Jon Heder (Napoleon), Efren Ramirez (Pedro) and Jon Gries (Uncle Rico).

Tickets go on sale at 10 a.m. Friday.

Set in Idaho, the independent film stars Heder within the position of Napoleon, a socially awkward high school student, along with his quirky immigrant friend, Pedro, and a bizarre household led by Uncle Rico.

Napoleon Dynamite started with a single investment of $400,000 from a friend of the film’s writer and producer, Jared Hess. It premiered at the 2004 Sundance Film Festival, sold to Fox Searchlight Studios and have become a cult classic loaded with quotable lines.

The dialogue is ideal for social media memes and GIFs. We’ve all seen images of Uncle Rico, who claimed he could throw a football over a mountain, wearing a Dallas Cowboys jersey. There’s even a fan-generated video with Jerry Jones presenting him a jersey. Additionally, it’s not that difficult to discover a Vote for Pedro T-shirt. And we’ve seen Napoleon’s sweet dance scene on YouTube dependless times.

"Everything within the film is so autobiographical," Hess told Rolling Stone in 2014. "I grew up in a household of six boys in Preston, Idaho (where the film was shot) and the character of Napoleon was a hybrid of all essentially the most nerdy and awkward parts of me and my brothers growing up."

No word on whether Texas Theater will have tots (Napoleon’s snack of alternative) or 1% milk available within the concession area.
